Ok so Xp users make fun of Vista users because supposedly Vista uses more ram and runs slower then XP. true, but it is also much easier to update your memory in Vista, XP users stop and think, how can it be easier if its the same hardware? This is where Ready Boost comes in.
Ready boost lets you add memory with just a flash drive. Ready boost is not compatible with all flash drives.
How to use ReadyBoost?
Ready boost is easy and simple to enable, but here is how to do it if your a total noob!
Easy way:
Plug in your flash drive and their should be an option in the AutoPlay dialog box, that says "speed up my system" which enables readyboost.
Still easy but longer way: Start>Computer>Right click on drive you want ready boost in>Properties>Readyboost(tab) and select Use this device. You can also disable it this way
Ok if you want ready boost to only use a certain amount of space on your flash drive, then follow the "still easy but longer way" all the way to the Readyboost(tab) from their move the slider to the amount of space you want ready boost to use. If say you have a 1gig(noobs) flash drive and you set it to 1Gig, and if you try to save a file onto your flash drive, it will say that the drive is full, since ready boost is using it. That is why you can change the slider to use say only 500MB so you can have the other 500Mb to store what ever you want. Or if say you have a 1Gig with 300Mb's of files, then you can only use 700 MB for ready boost.
"In the 32-bit version of windows vista, their is a 4gig limit on RAM. The limit on 64-bit vista is 8gigs"(alex p 69).
