Well this tip is used to save space on your ipod, many of you may know this already but a lot of ppl do not.
To save space convert all your mp3's wav's and wma's(it automatically converts these) to AAC.
If you have your ipod synced to your Itunes, this is real easy. May take some time, but its easy. Open Itunes go to music under library(under library not ipod) then right click on where it says name(as in name of song) and put a check next to "kind" then click on kind to where the arrow is descending V. it will show all your mp3's and wavs dat need to be converted to aac for space saving.
as you can see, the mpeg audio file is an mp3, which needs to be converted to aac. the mpeg-4 are music videos leave those alone.
select all mp3's and wavs and right click and select the option "convert selection to AAC" which may take a while depending on how many you have(may be a crapload). ok so it shall begin to convert them. to see how its going go to Converting.. under playlist.
once its all complete a lil chime will play. u might not even hear it. well then all that is left to do is remove the mp3's from your librarys music. go back to Music under library and it should still be on kind, select all and right click and select "delete" it will ask you to confirm deletion, well confirm it(note this will only remove them from itunes they will still be on your harddrive). if it asks 'do you want to move the selected file to recycle bin" if you select keep file it will only remove from itunes if you select move to recycle bin then it will remove form where u can it stored ex My music(xp users) and move it to the recycle bin, that is up to you what ever you want to do.
ok so once you remove all your mp3's which are now aac's connect your ipod and if you have it synced then your good, if you do not you will have to go to music under ipod and go to kind and remove all the mp3's and then go to music under library and select all recently converted aac's and move to Ipod manually.
then your done.
now lets see how much space was saved
Alan Jackson - Good Time.mp3 = 6.76 MB
01 Alan Jackson - Good Time.m4a = 4.65
see the difference? thats 2.11MB sure it may not seem like a lot but now imagine you have more then one song? that is a lot of space saved.
Hope this tip helped
